- In this brief, WEDO (Women’s Environment and Development Organization) argues that gender equality is a critical element of effective, sustainable climate action. After a short background about integration of gender perspectives into all climate finance, it proposes alternatives for constructing a climate finance portfolio that is feminist. It also highlights key challenges and opportunities for understanding gender-responsive programmes. One of WEDO's recommendations is to use lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic to prioritize comprehensive, long-term feminist investing and monitoring.. .The brief consists of three parts: making the case for a feminist portfolio: opportunities for rethinking climate finance investments: transform discourse on effective climate finance.

- This volume considers the interrelation between bodily interventions, intimate labour and vulnerable bodies. It examines how different kinds of biotechnology processes and regulations affect those who seek interventions and help. The interventions include for example help-seeking in the context of intimate partner violence, body modifications for those affected by female genital cutting or gender-affirming surgeries. The authors argue that the vulnerabilities created by these interventions, derive partly from the interventions themselves but also from the ways different regulations enable or disable people access to medical treatment.

- Artemisia Gentileschi (1593–1654 or later) is the most celebrated woman artist of the baroque period in Italy. Her career spanned more than 40 years, as she moved between Rome, where she was raised and trained by her father, Orazio Gentileschi, to Florence, where she gained artistic independence and became the first female member of the city’s academy of artists, and to Venice, London, and Naples. Often featuring heroic female subjects, her paintings were predominantly intended for private clients. This book includes essays on her life and career: a discussion of her personal and artistic relationship with her father: a summary of critical writings and an overview of the wide range of approaches to Artemisia’s work since her rediscovery by feminist art historians more than 50 years ago: a more personal insight into Artemisia through her letters: a discussion of the artist’s self-representation in her work: and an essay dedicated to her painting technique.

- Illustrated collection of essays on the history of women's rights work in the UK, from early campaigns through the present day. Based on personal diaries, banners and protest fashion as well as literature, film, music, and art around the themes of body, mind and voice, contributors reveal how activists have fought for equality. They examine among other issues gender fluidity, representation, black women's educational access, the right to sexual pleasure and the underlying imperialism of early feminism.

- Description
- South Asia and Latin America represent two epicenters of migrant care work and the globalized reproductive market. Yet scholars and the media continue to examine them in geographical and conceptual isolation. This book closes both these gaps and investigates nannying, elder care, domestic work and other forms of migrant labor in the Americas together with the emerging "Wild West" of biotechnology and surrogacy in the Indian subcontinent.

- Description
- This volume focuses on the economic and financial dimensions of the premodern royal court, especially on the women using money as an instrument of power. Following the money trail back often leads to unexpectedly savvy women who knew how to deal with money and how to manage treasuries or accounts. Presenting case studies from medieval England to early modern Denmark and the Holy Roman Empire, the contributions discuss empresses and queens as well as mistresses and favourites, considering their spheres of influence, their financial strategies and means and their successes and failures.

- Description
- This book explores the changing role of Muslim women in the economy in the twenty-first century. Sociological developments such as secular education, female-focused policies, national and global commitments to gender equality as well as contemporary technological advances have all served to shift and redefine the domestic and public roles of Muslim women, leading in many places to increases in workplace participation and entrepreneurship. The volume investigates the contexts of these shifts and the experiences of women balancing faith and other commitments to actively engage in the economy in vastly different countries. With cases ranging from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria, Kenya through to Spain, Bulgaria and Australia.

- Description
- This issue of the Yearbook of women's history considers the Dutch colonial legacy, including historical and current narratives in the Netherlands and its (former) colonies. It consists of three parts. In the first part, contributors focus on the silent archive, as in an essay on free and enslaved Asian women in European and Eurasian households in the 18th century. The second part offers biographical counternarratives, such as the interview article with a mother and her son about the 30 May 1969 uprising on Curaçao. In the third part, authors reflect on the colonial legacies of museums and archives, like 19th century school wall charts visualising ideas about colonial life for Dutch schoolchildren until the 1970s.

- Description
- Collection of feminist essays about women as world's changemakers. In this twenty-first #MeToo era, women speak up more and more about the abusive behavior of notorious men like Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Cosby. The contributors cover the evolving landscape of the movement against sexual violence and outline how the world can change if we trust women. They discuss what would happen if people for example take women’s experiences of online harassment seriously and center survivors.

- Description
- This volume is a cross-regional examination of the connection between money, gender and political recruitment across the world. Illustrated by research from six country studies (France, Ireland, Cabo Verde, US, Malawi, Ghana), it explains the cost of elections, gender imbalance in political office and the effects of financial incentive mechanisms to increase women’s representation in politics. Money is probably one of the biggest barriers to women in the political recruitment process. By comparing how gendered electoral financing affects political recruitment processes in both established and emerging democracies, the authors identify whether and how the funding mechanisms encourage a shift in political behavior.
