DescriptionThis volume considers the interrelation between bodily interventions, intimate labour and vulnerable bodies. It examines how different kinds of biotechnology processes and regulations affect those who seek interventions and help. The interventions include for example help-seeking in the context of intimate partner violence, body modifications for those affected by female genital cutting or gender-affirming surgeries. The authors argue that the vulnerabilities created by these interventions, derive partly from the interventions themselves but also from the ways different regulations enable or disable people access to medical treatment.
