- Description
- Painter Barbora Didžiokiene (born as Varvara Gorochova – 12/12/1896-18/08/1976) met - 16 years old - Vladas Didžiokas - drawing teacher in St. Petersburg. After their marriage they moved to Kaunas, the capital of Lithuania at the time. Vladas Didžiokas' died in 1942 and Barbora moved to a small village of Dovainonys near Kaunas. She spent the rest of her life working as a drawing teacher in a school in Rumšiškes and writing her memoirs. This book is about her life in St. Petersburg and Kaunas (until 1921), it includes photos of her life and reproductions of works from the National Ciurlionis gallery. She called herself ‘little painter’, because her husband Vladas was more known in Kaunas society. Vladas did not accept her aspiration to be a painter and obstructed her in various ways. A second part of memoirs is expected in the future.

- Description
Haar schilderijen hangen wereldwijd in musea.

- Description
- First published in 2018. This book is published on the occasion of the exhibition on the Swedish painter Hilma af Klint (1862-1944) titled 'Hilma af Klint: paintings for the future' in Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, United States, from October 12, 2018 to April, 23, 2019. Within the arc of her production from naturalistic work in the 1890s to watercolours in the 1940s, the book and exhibition focuses on the period 1906-1920. Hilma af Klint created a body of work known as 'The paintings for the temple' that broke from the dominant painting style and are primarily abstract. Her early arrival at abstraction - before modernists as Vasily Kandinsky and Piet Mondriaan - is a radical effort to find visual expression for a transcendent, spiritual reality beyond the observable world. Contains:

- Description

- Description
- The French-American sculptor Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010) was one of the most important artists of the last century. Her fleshy blobs, skeletal spiders and the aggressive fragility of her work offered a new solution to the antagonism between the figurative and the abstract that had previously been part and parcel of modernism. Bourgeois herself provided a unique interpretive level to modern art through the uses she made of childhood trauma, family life and sexuality. This study serves as both an introduction to the central themes of the late artist's oeuvre and as a commemoration of her one-hundredth birthday. Over the course of nine chapters, it examines her life, her exploration of the works of other artists and the transformation of her emotions into such works of art as the now iconic pieces 'Destruction of the Father,' 'Fillette,' 'Cells' and 'Maman.'
