- Description
- This book explores the shifting contours of belonging and Otherness generated by multifarious nationalisms. The diverse and context specific positionings of men and women, masculinities and femininities, and hegemonic and non-normative sexualities, vis-à-vis nationalism, are illuminated through a array of contemporary theoretical lenses. These include historical and feminist institutionalism, post-colonial theory, critical race approaches, transnational and migration theory and semiotics.

- Description
- All politics are reproductive politics, argues Briggs. From longer work hours to the election of Donald Trump, the current political crisis is above all about reproduction. Briggs outlines how politicians’ racist accounts of reproduction, stories of Black “welfare queens” and Latina “breeding machines', were the leading wedge in the government and business disinvestment in families. With decreasing wages, rising McJobs and no resources for family care, households have grown ever more precarious over the past forty years in sharply race-and class-stratified ways.

- Description
- This book considers the experiences of queer muslims in Belgium. It focuses on queer muslims who migrated to Belgium because of their sexuality and queer muslims who are children of economic migrants. Part 1 discusses how LGB persons from an ethnic minority negotiate silence and disclosure around their sexuality, especially within family relationships, both in and across Belgian borders. The second part focuses on newly arrived queer muslim migrants and the transformations in their sexual subjectivities. Part 3 addresses the intersections between sexuality, religion and transnational migration of both second- and third-generation migrants and queer migrants.
