- Description
- Autobiographical accounts, texts written for political publications, speeches and documented interviews by Safiya Bukhari (1950–2003). The 22 texts reflect Buhkhari’s experiences as an activist of the Black Panther Party, as a political prisoner and as a founder of the Jericho movement, supporting political prisoners. She presents her political and, as a convert to islam, religious views. She discusses the history of repression against political movements in the United States, specially the COINTELPRO program which included several killings of activists by the authorities. The volume has been compiled and published posthumously, edited by Laura Whitehorn in co-operation with Bukhari’s daughter Wonda Jones.
