- Description
- Exploring the application of quotas and affirmative action at an institutional or organizational level from different perspectives, the contributions inthis book provide an understanding of the complexity and controversial nature of policies and actions in different countries. Focussing particularly on gender-related initiatives, but raising questions pertinent to other aspects of diversity, the contributions from international researchers investigate variances between and differing justifications for policies. Mijntje Lückerath writes about the feasibility of the Dutch quota bill.

- Description
- The feminist legal theorists in this volume examine the relationship between gender, equality, and power across an array of realms: sex, reproduction, pleasure, work, money. In doing so they identify social, political, economic, developmental, and psychological and somatic forces, operating both internally and externally, that complicate the expression and constraint of power. Finally, they give thought to the possibilities for legal interventions in light of these more complex notions of power.

- Description
- This book presents four decades of Milkman's essential writings. The introduction frames a career-spanning scholarly project: her interrogation of historical and contemporary intersections of class and gender inequalities in the workplace, and the efforts to challenge those inequalities. Early chapters focus on her pioneering work on women's labor during the Great Depression and the World War II years. In the book's second half, Milkman turns to the past fifty years, a period that saw a dramatic decline in gender inequality even as growing class imbalances created greater-than-ever class disparity among women. She concludes with a previously unpublished essay comparing the impact of the Great Depression and the Great Recession on women workers.

- Description
- The book is focused on intersectionality between gender, race and disability and the question of whether this intersection can be adequately addressed in (EU) law. The discussion rests on two basic assumptions. First, the multiplication of 'discrimination grounds' in EU law and other legal regimes should not result in a dilution of the demands of equality law. Accordingly, the book focuses on the three key grounds - race, gender and disability.. Second, any multi-ground non-discrimination law framework needs to engage with the question of discrimination on several grounds.
