- Description
- This report researched gender-based violence in the government-controlled parts of the regions Donetsk and Luhansk in Ukraine, in particular on how domestic violence against women is aggravated by the conflict with Russia over eastern Ukraine, and on sexual violence against women perpetrated by members of military forces.
It focuses on the institutional response to violence against women and its limitations, and in some instances the failure of certain actors to implement and act upon existing laws. In addition, the report strives to offer insights into the underlying causes and effects of gender-based violence against women in conflict-affected areas. Also harmful gender stereotypes, social attitudes and the idea among ultra-conservative groups that gender is a Western concept are discussed.
