- Deze Sociale atlas van vrouwen uit etnische minderheden biedt een breed en diepgaand zicht op de maatschappelijke positie en participatie van deze vrouwen. De volgende thema's komen aan de orde: onderwijs, betaalde arbeid, de combinatie van betaalde arbeid en zorg, inkomens, gezondheid, geweld tegen meisjes en vrouwen, vrijetijdsbesteding, deelname aan de 'civil society' en politieke participatie. De meeste aandacht gaat daarbij uit naar vrouwen uit de vier grootste groepen allochtonen: Turken, Marokkanen, Surinamers en Antillianen. Maar bij sommige onderwerpen komen ook enkele grote, zogenaamde 'nieuwe' groepen aan bod: Afghanen, Irakezen, Iraniërs, Joegoslaven en Somaliërs. De groepen vrouwen worden steeds onderling én met autochtone vrouwen vergeleken, evenals met de mannen uit de eigen etnische groep. De atlas levert beschrijvingen en verklaringen van verschillen tussen groepen. Er is nagegaan of de huidige situatie verschilt met wat de Nederlandse regering in haar emancipatiebeleid voor ogen heeft.

- In 1967 verscheen in de Gids het door Joke Smit geschreven artikel 'Het onbehagen van de vrouw'. Dit artikel wordt gezien als begin en ijkpunt van de tweede feministische golf. Dit themanummer gaat o.a. in op de invloeden van de emancipatiegolf op Nederlandse mannen. Het is tevens een aanzet om intelligenter te denken over man, vrouw en maatschappij. Aan vrouwelijke auteurs werd gevraagd wat ze van mannen verwachten.
