- Description
- This report analyzes data for all 50 states and the District of Columbia across six topical areas that affect women’s lives: political participation, employment and earnings, work and family, poverty and opportunity, health and well-being, and violence and safety. Within each of these areas, various indicators of well-being are explored. While the focus of the report is on the status of Black women, comparisons between Black women and other racial and ethnic groups of women (and men) are presented to contextualize the data. Basic demographic data for each state are also provided. The report concludes with recommendations to improve the status of Black women in the United States.

- Description
- The increasing representation of trans identity throughout art and popular culture in recent years has been paradoxical. Trans visibility is touted as a sign of a liberal society, but it has coincided with a political moment marked both by heightened violence against trans people (especially trans women of color) and by the suppression of trans rights under civil law. This book speculates about a third term : the trapdoor, neither entrance nor exit, but a secret passageway leading elsewhere.

- Description
- The essays in this book represent a cross-section of current research in the field of women's history with an intersectional approach. This collection employs approaches to study both the causes that have united American women and the conflicts that have divided them. Some essays uncover little-known aspects of women’s history, while others offer a fresh take on familiar events and figures, from Rosa Parks to Take Back the Night marches. Spanning the antebellum era to the present day, these essays convey the long histories and ongoing relevance of topics ranging from women’s immigration to incarceration, from acts of cross-dressing to the activism of feminist mothers.

- Description
- This publication is an examination of how black women, indigenous women, and women of color experience racial profiling, police brutality, and immigration enforcement. Placing stories of individual women - such as Sandra Bland, Rekia Boyd, Dajerria Becton, Monica Jones, and Mya Hall - in the broader context of police violence and mass incarceration, it documents the evolution of movements centering women’s experiences of policing and demands a radical rethinking of our visions of safety - and the means we devote to achieving it.
