- The research showed that almost 68% of the sex workers of Villa Minosa already suffered a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Because most of them cannot recognize STD's. - Many female prostitutes of the low income area of Rio de Janeiro, known as Villa Mimosa, search for other strategies to survive, in order to ensure a life with a little more perspective. The Aids-panic, with the prostitutes as a high-risk group, was responsible for less clients and lower income. However alsmost 80% of the women in Villa Mimosa uses condoms in their work. The women suffer discrimination and are considered as bad women, who spread Aids among society.
