Drug-using prostitutes have reduced sexual risk behaviour. There is evidence for the effectiveness of HIV testing and counseling. At present, new infections among clients of drug-using prostitutes are expected to occur, although not on a large scale.
This paper describes the effects of HIV prevention intervention among female sex workers in Delhi. Over a 2-year period authors found a marked increase in condom use with little in HIV seroprevalence. The prevalence of HIV infection did not increase during the study period.
