Labour in South Africa is characterised by systematic discrimination against black people, women and disabled persons. To redress these past imbalances affirmative action has been used in the workplace, education and gender equality. Mainly African women and disabled persons are the beneficiaries of this action. Author explores the strategy affirmative action in South Africa harnessed to make past wrongs and its effectiveness in so doing even. Author also looks how committed those implementing affirmative action respond with regard to women.
