- Description
- In this biography, the author explores the life of the Norwegian social reformer, Elise Boulding (1920), known to many as 'the matriarch of the 20th century peace research movement.' In addition to a chronological account of Boulding's prolific peace, Quaker, educational, and socialist work the text includes discussion of her philosophy of education, the influence of Quakerism on her educational pursuits, the conceptual evolution of a culture of peace, and Boulding's theoretical work in women's and futures studies. The text draws in part on interviews conducted by the author with Boulding in 1999 and 2003.
