- Description
- This book discusses the ways in which feminists across the world think about female labour in relation to freedom and oppression. Part 1 explains four centuries of capitalism's existence and traces feminist theories of labour along the history of different political traditions. The author defines three trajectories: equality feminism (eighteenth century), critical equality feminism (mid-nineteenth century) and social reproduction feminism (early nineteenth century). Finally, part 1 discusses the traditions of social feminism and anti-racist feminism (twentieth century). Part 2 goes deeper into the social reproduction feminism, in which the author advocates for a renewed social reproduction framework as a basis for an inclusive feminist politics.
