Collection of articles on Asian/Pacific Islander American women's history (covering the Hawai'i in the pre-Western contact period to the U.S. continent at the end of the twentieth century), that both centres women and reinterprets their lives through the viewpoints of the participants themselves and the critical perspectives of scholars of women's history. The authors integrate women's experiences, within broader topics such as gender, race, historiography, cultural formations war, colonialism, migration, and social activism.
