- Doctoraalscriptie kunstgeschiedenis, Rijks Universiteit Leiden, waarin acht vrouwelijke fotografen zijn behandeld, die zich in de periode tussen ca. 1976 en 1986 bezig hielden met zelfbeelden. Deze vrouwen proberen (bewust of onbewust) door het gebruiken van al bestaande stereotypen deze in hun werk aan de kaak te stellen. Hierbij maken ze gebruik van oude beelden, terwijl anderen typen uit de massacultuur overnemen. Hierbij is onderzocht hoe de veranderingen in de maatschappij en de opkomst van de vrouwenbeweging van invloed zijn geweest bij de keuze van zelfbeelden. De behandelde fotografen zijn: Judy Dater, Cindy Sherman, Lydia Schouten, Diana Blok, Marlo Broekmans, Stella Cremers, Toto Frima en Lidwien van de Ven.
