- Description
- First published as: Changer de différence (2009). The question of sexual differences and the shift from one feminism to the other has never been considered from a philosophical point of view. The idea of gender has never been taken back into its ontological source and queer theory has never been confronted with deconstruction. Along with this, the two intellectual traditions (the American and Continental thought) are compared with each other.

- Description
- Autobiography about the authors' process of both becoming a feminist and accepting rage as a feminist superpower. According to the author black women need to embrace this process more in order to bring progress and change. She argues that feminism can give black women and girls a common language to think about how sexism, racism and classism work together to call rage.

- Description
- Volume about media representations and practices that have emerged out of contemporary wars. The author considers two questions: how the construction of gender, race and class in media are productive of regimes of truth regarding war and military life, and how such constructions may intensify militarism. By examining news and documentary media produced since September 11, 2001, she demonstrates that news narratives that include women use feminism selectively in gender equality narratives. They tend to reinforce historically resonant gender, race and class identity constructions.

- Description
- Biography of the American feminist, journalist, and activist, Gloria Steinem (1934). This work traces her life and career of feminist activist, providing an examination of her life and her efforts to further equal opportunity among all people, especially women, in the United States from the second half of the 20th century to the present. This book's wider coverage of Steinem's life, from her early childhood to the present, adds to previous works, which tend to stop with the end of the heyday of the women's movement and the rise of the Conservative movement in the early 1980s.

- Description
- This book is about the reshaping of women's lives, loves and dreams since 1950. In this period Walt Disney's film Cinderella gave expression to popular ideas of romance, marriage was a major determinant of female life chances and teenage girls dreamed of Mr Right and happy endings. It ends with the success of Disney's Frozen (2013), a film with relevance to very different times. The book shows how women's expectations and emotional landscapes have shifted since 1950, considering among others the way women's changing life experiences have been mirrored in new expectations about marriage, intimacy and family life and the way new forms of independence through education and work altered women's life ambitions.

- Description
- Goss examines how women's civic place has changed over the span of more than 120 years, how public policy has driven these changes, and why these changes matter for women and American democracy. Suffrage, which granted women the right to vote and invited their democratic participation, provided a dual platform for the expansion of women's policy agendas. As measured by women's groups' appearances before the U.S. Congress, women's collective political engagement continued to grow between 1920 and 1960—when many conventional accounts claim it declined—and declined after 1980, when it might have been expected to grow. .Goss suggests that ascriptive differences are not necessarily barriers to disadvantaged groups' capacity to be heard: that enhanced political inclusion does not necessarily lead to greater collective engagement: and that rights movements do not necessarily constitute the best way to understand the political participation of marginalized groups. She asks what women have gained—and perhaps lost—through expanded incorporation as well as whether single-sex organizations continue to matter in 21st-century America.

- Description
- Taking an interdisciplinary approach, this book analyses black women’s involvement in American political life, focusing on what they did to gain political power between 1961 and the present, and why, in many cases, they did not succeed. The author demonstrates that black women have tried to gain centrality through their participation in Presidential Commissions, Black feminist organizations, theatrical productions, film adaptations of literature, beauty pageants, electoral politics, and Presidential appointments.

- Description
- This is a textbook in U.S. women’s history to present an inclusive narrative within the context of the central developments of U.S. history and to integrate written and visual primary sources into each chapter. The result was to 'reveal the relationship between secondary and original sources, to show history as a dynamic process of investigation and interpretation rather than a set body of facts and figures.' The book focuses on women from a broad range of ethnicities, classes, religions, and regions. With a signature of Ellen Dubois
