- Description
- History of the UK Women's Liberation Movement. Oral history testimonies power the work, tracing the arc of a feminist life from 1950s girlhoods to late life activism today. The author uses oral history as creative method, making significant use of ‘Sisterhood and After: The Women's Liberation Oral History Project’ to animate still-unresolved controversies of race, class, sexuality, disability, and feminist identity. She provides insight into iconic actions including the Miss World Protest, the fight to protect abortion rights, and the peace protest at Greenham Common. She also explores men's violence and today's demands for trans-liberation as areas of continuing feminist concern.

- Description
- This book explores how women can mobilize themselves on their own initiative. The book considers poor people in informal settlements in Jakarta, where government schemes for modernizing the city have often led to forced evictions. The author examines different groups of women, analyzes how they have challenged oppressive authority - their husbands, community leaders and local governments - and provides detailed insights into women’s attitudes and what has motivated them.

- Description
- This book explores the pleasures and perils of being LHBTQ+ in the West. Though the options and freedoms for LGBTQ+ people living in the West are greater than ever before, the question is at what cost this acceptance has come and who is left behind, particularly where LGBTQ+ rights are not enough promoted and supported. The author searches for answers to these challenges as well as to the broader question of what it means to be queer in 2019 worldwide. To illustrate this she describes her emotions at the first same-sex marriage in Britain, her experiences at both the world's biggest drag queen festival in Los Angeles and Pride parades across Europe and her visit to a transgender model agency.
