This article examines the roles and responsabilities of white feminists who speak about intra-racial violence against Indigenous women. Douglas considers the problems involved in the legal recognition of indigenous customary marriage and underscores the heightened silence and invisiblity of indigenous women victims of sexual assault within the white legal arena.
