- Description
- This factsheet focuses on increase of women's participation in the labour market and decrease of pay and earnings gaps. Statistics show that women's labour participation is lower than men's in all EU countries. Working women tend to work fewer hours, work in lower-paying sectors and occupy lower-ranking positions than men, resulting in gender pay and earnings gaps. These differences are to some extent due to traditional gender roles, but also due to economic incentives. The factsheet reviews the performance in EU countries concerning female labour participation and the gender pay and earnings gaps, discusses the available evidence on potential policies to effectively address these gaps and describes good policy practices.

- Description
- This brochure summarises research results of the project Gender Care Gap (2018-2020) on the division of childcare, elderly care and housework in Germany. It provides answers to questions such as why life courses are diverging, why people become “carers” or “earners”, what factors influence the distribution of unpaid care work and how (unpaid) care work and employment can be allocated and distributed more fairly. The brochure aims at providing suggestions to the government regarding equal partnership and fair sharing of paid and unpaid care work between women and men.
