The Zambia chapter in this series assesses the progress made in Zambia in relation to the implementation of the National Gender Policy, the Beijing Platform of Action and the SADC Gender and Development Declaration. It analyses the situation of women relative to men in various sectors and the seriousness of government policy interventions to address gender inequality.
The Namibia chapter of this series focuses on the post-Beijing legal reforms in the country. It summarises information on the position of women in Namibia in relation to economic, politics, health, socio-cultural environments and the law. It considers policies formulated by the government of Namibia, with input from NGOs, and findings from studies conducted on behalf of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Welfare.
The Malawi chapter of this series describes the status of women in Malawi from 1997 to 2004 and the extent to which steps are being taken to address gender concerns in all development sectors. It examines how Malawi is fulfilling its commitments under the Beijing framework, the SADC declaration on gender and development and to meet the targets of the Millennium Development Goals adopted in 2000. It considers to what extent the dimension of gender is being mainstreamed into every aspect of life.
