- Description
- The authors reflect on questions such as: How can a institute such as the IIAV make optimal use of new media? Whose histories are represented in its archives? How can it continue to combine the three core elements of its mission statement – that is, preserving heritage, contributing to women’s empowerment, and adopting an academic orientation and producing knowledge – in an environment that is calling for specialization? They describe perspectives on documenting women’s histories, developments at the IIAV since it was established and the IIAV’s approaches to contemporary issues and how the institute is preparing for the future.

- Description
- This reader comprises two parts. In the first authors describe on the theme of women, war, and peace building the work of women (some feminist, some not) who are actively engaged in trying to (re)build equitable and sustainable societies in the process of living through or emerging from war. The second part contains articles focusing on the ways in which aid agencies often relate to the victims of conflict, who are predominantly women and children, and considering how external agencies might best support these victims and other civilians in their own peace-building efforts.
