This handbook introduces key concepts in LGBT political studies and queer theory. It also describes historical, geographic and topical case studies within theoretical frameworks like critical race studies, postcolonialism and social movement theory. The twenty-eight chapters are divided within three parts: 1) theories and origins of contemporary sexual and gender diversity politics, 2) case studies in global sexual and gender diversity politics and 3) critical understandings of global sexual and gender diversity.
This book collects discourses on queer-feminist solidarity between Western, post-Soviet and post-socialist contexts. It focuses on solidarity efforts between several countries against homophobia, transphobia and misogyny and celebrates alliances and solidarities between activism, community building, art, culture and academic knowledge output. The book also brings forward the critique of Western hegemonies involved in contemporary queer-feminist solidarity activism and theory between the 'East' and 'West'.
