- Description
- Analysis by regions, countries and types of migration reveals a strong variation regarding levels and features of female and male migration. This approach shows the distinct ways in which gender roles, perceptions and relations, each embedded in a particular cultural, geographical, and socioeconomic context, affect migration dynamics. This volume demonstrates that gender matters at each stage of the migration process.

- Description
- Collection of articles discussing gender, with examples of gender constructive processes within various contexts and by means of diverse methodologies. It addresses issues such as gender performativity, its variances depending on their historical, social and cultural contexts and the rituals, representations and institutions involved in gender performances. It demonstrates that it is impossible to consider gender as a fixed biological trait. The authors propose to look at gender performance as an ongoing process in which femininities and masculinities imply dynamic intersections with categories such as nationality, ethnicity, class, sexuality and age. With cases from South Africa, United States and Brazil.

- Description
- This volume considers three significant developments: the ever-changing role of women in society: a significant dissatisfaction with current dominant understandings of corporate governance, corporate law and corporate theory: and the increasing concern to establish sustainable business models globally. A range of female scholars from different disciplines interconnect these ideas in this collection of essays on female activism and the corporation, secondly on liberal attempts to include women in business leadership and, finally, on critiquing the modern focus on women as a 'fix' for ethical and unsustainable business practises which currently dominates the corporate world.

- Description
- This volume looks at the different consequences of the masculinity of power over two millennia of European history. It examines how masculinity and political culture have interacted from ancient Rome and the early medieval Byzantine empire, to twentieth-century Germany and Italy. It considers a broad variety of case studies from early medieval Iceland and late medieval France, to Naples at the time of the French Revolution and Strasbourg after the Franco-Prussian War, with a particular focus on the development of political masculinities in Great Britain between the sixteenth century and the present day.

- Description
- This volume looks at the link between gender and corruption by including studies where the historical roots of corruption are linked to gender and by contextualizing the exploration of relationships, for example by distinguishing between democracies versus authoritarian states and between the electoral arena versus the bureaucracy. The book highlights that gender equality processes should be at the forefront of analysis, and that developments strengthening the position of women vis-à-vis men affect the quality of government.

- Description
- This interdisciplinary collection considers the tensions that have developed between the historical privilege often ascribed to the male and the vulnerabilities to which his body is prone. Using historical and literary approaches, the essays consider the critical ways in which medicine's interactions with literature reveal vital clues about the ways sex, gender, and identity are constructed through treatments of a range of 'pathologies' including deformity, venereal disease, injury, nervousness, and sexual difference. The relationships between male medicine and ideals of potency and masculinity are explored through a range of sources including African American slave fictions, southern gothic, early modern poetry, Victorian literature, and the Modern novel.
