However Mongolia guarantees equality of men and women through its national laws and international treaties it is signatory to, social and economic conditions and the legal framework for women's de facto enjoyment of equal rights remain inadequate. A significant number of laws including the Civil Code, Criminal Code, Labour Code, Law on combating pornography and Media freedom law contain paternatlistic and superficial provisions, which are not in line with the international standards on women's rights and principles of gender equality.
