- Description
- This 2020 edition assesses the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the structural obstacles in its realization. It reveals the features of the COVID-19 emergency and its relations with other crises, including increased job loss, hunger and homelessness, increasing racial and gender violence and escalating climate disasters.. .The first part of the report, based on national civil society reports, describes how COVID-19 and resulting lockdown has affected countries in different ways, depending on their social and economic circumstances. The second part describes how governments and international organizations have responded to the economic and health crises resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The third part argues that policy responses to COVID-19 must not repeat the mistakes of the past, offering an alternative agenda for transformational recovery.

- Description
- The authors provides feminist analyses of a recession-era media culture characterized by the reemergence and refashioning of familiar gender tropes, including crisis masculinity, coping women, and postfeminist self-renewal. Interpreting media forms as diverse as reality television, financial journalism, novels, lifestyle blogs, popular cinema, and advertising, the contributors reveal gendered narratives that recur across media forms too often considered in isolation from one another. They also show how, with a few notable exceptions, recession-era popular culture promotes affective normalcy and transformative individual enterprise under duress while avoiding meaningful critique of the privileged white male or the destructive aspects of Western capitalism. By acknowledging the contradictions between political rhetoric and popular culture, and between diverse screen fantasies and lived realities.

- Description
- 'This report aims to assess the impact of this crisis on the situation of women and men in Europe and on gender equality policies. This is important as economic crises are deeply gendered. Past experience cannot provide sufficient insight into the gender impact of this crisis as the position of women has changed considerably since the last major recession. This crisis offers opportunities for radical change, including a potential to advance equality for women and men. However, the crisis also poses challenges where gender equality may be seen as an issue only for the good times.'

- Description
- Across several social, economic, and political dimensions, women and girls are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 crisis because of their sex. This working paper presents indicators for two dashboards, which give an overview of gender inequalities from the COVID-19 crisis. The first dashboard covers a set of indicators on capabilities at risk. The first set of indicators points to women's health and risk factors by examining women's presence in the health sector, access to sexual and reproductive health and their risk of underlying cardiovascular conditions. The second set of indicators explores women's presence in the formal and informal economy. The second dashboard offers indicators regarding safe space at the household level, time spent on unpaid domestic and care work, child marriage and intimate partner violence. It also covers indicators about women's representation in responding to the crisis through for example access to technology, education and political participation.
