The Palestinian women's movement has faced numerous challenges since the beginning of the twentieth century, when women became an organic component of the national struggle and their activism became part of the heritage of the national movement. Yet the most serious challenge during the last 10 years has been the inner transformation of the Palestinian women's movement from a grassroots struggle to an elite phenomenon.
