- Description
- This publication serves as a knowledge base to understand and enforce action concerning gender-based violence (GBV) and environmental issues. It argues that gender-based abuse is observed across environmental contexts and affects the security of communities and the realisation of sustainable development goals (SDGs). The analysis shows the interlinking nature of GBV across three main contexts: access to and control of natural resources (land, forests, agriculture, water and fisheries): environmental pressure and threats (environmental crimes, extractive industries and agribusiness and climate change and weather-related disasters): and environmental action to defend and conserve ecosystems and resources (women environmental human rights defenders, environmental projects and environmental workplaces). The publication focuses on awareness and engagement of actors working in environmental and sustainable development, gender equality and GBV policymaking to apply rights-based, gender-responsive approaches to environmental policy, programmes and projects. The publication contains a list of case studies.

- Description
- The purpose of the study is to bring out often-neglected facts concerning dissimilarities in the lifestyles and consumption patterns of women and men, and thus in their environmental impact, by describing how men, primarily through their greater mobility and more extensive travel, account for more carbon dioxide emissions than women, in both rich and poor countries. The study points to how a changed behaviour among men – notably rich men who are decision-makers – can be crucial in addressing climate change and in enhancing the opportunities of all human beings to enjoy sustainable development.. .The study is an ideas paper presented at the 15PthP meeting of the UN Commission for Sustainable Development in May 2007.

- Description
- In this brief, WEDO (Women’s Environment and Development Organization) argues that gender equality is a critical element of effective, sustainable climate action. After a short background about integration of gender perspectives into all climate finance, it proposes alternatives for constructing a climate finance portfolio that is feminist. It also highlights key challenges and opportunities for understanding gender-responsive programmes. One of WEDO's recommendations is to use lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic to prioritize comprehensive, long-term feminist investing and monitoring.. .The brief consists of three parts: making the case for a feminist portfolio: opportunities for rethinking climate finance investments: transform discourse on effective climate finance.

- Description
- The impacts of recent climate disasters in developing countries reveal the harsh reality that people experience. Poor and marginalised people are being driven from their homes with greater frequency and in greater numbers as they are struck by different threats caused and strenghtened by climate change. Besides the causes and consequences of climate-induced displacement, this report outlines how the injustice of climate change, poverty and gender inequality must be met. It provides recommendations to support more gender-equal and resilient communities in sustainable environments.

- Description
- This 2020 edition assesses the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the structural obstacles in its realization. It reveals the features of the COVID-19 emergency and its relations with other crises, including increased job loss, hunger and homelessness, increasing racial and gender violence and escalating climate disasters.. .The first part of the report, based on national civil society reports, describes how COVID-19 and resulting lockdown has affected countries in different ways, depending on their social and economic circumstances. The second part describes how governments and international organizations have responded to the economic and health crises resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The third part argues that policy responses to COVID-19 must not repeat the mistakes of the past, offering an alternative agenda for transformational recovery.
