- Description
- This report assesses the scientific productivity of women regarding scholarly journals. This study analyzes whether factors such as working, caring and teaching children at home during the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the productivity of female academics. It looked at submitted manuscripts and peer review activities for all Elsevier journals between February and May 2018-2020, including data on almost 6 million academics. Results showed that women submitted relatively fewer manuscripts than men during the COVID-19 lockdown months. The findings indicate that the pandemic has already created cumulative advantages for men.

- Description
- This study explores the phenomenon of precarious work in the EU from a gender and intersectionality perspective. It finds that women, particularly young women, those with a migrant background and women with low levels of educational attainment, are especially vulnerable. This is a recurring trend across all of the member states within the study’s scope. One of the key factors behind this is the disproportionate amount of time that women spend in caregiving roles and domestic work, something that is reinforced by COVID-19. The study is commissioned by the European Parliament’s Policy Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs at the request of the FEMM Committee,

- Description
- The Gender Equality Index is a tool to measure the progress of gender equality in the EU, developed by EIGE. It gives more visibility to areas that need improvement and ultimately supports policy makers to design more effective gender equality measures.
The Gender Equality Index has tracked the painfully slow progress of gender equality in the EU since 2010, mostly due to advances in decision-making. While equality is more pronounced in some Member States than in others, it is far from a reality for everyone in every area. Gender norms around care, gender segregation in education and the labour market, and gender inequalities in pay remain pertinent.
The Index allows Member States to easily monitor and compare gender equality progress across various groups of women and men in the EU over time and to understand where improvements are most needed. The 2022 Index has a thematic focus on care in the pandemic. It explores the division of informal childcare, long-term care and housework between women and men.

- Description
- Across several social, economic, and political dimensions, women and girls are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 crisis because of their sex. This working paper presents indicators for two dashboards, which give an overview of gender inequalities from the COVID-19 crisis. The first dashboard covers a set of indicators on capabilities at risk. The first set of indicators points to women's health and risk factors by examining women's presence in the health sector, access to sexual and reproductive health and their risk of underlying cardiovascular conditions. The second set of indicators explores women's presence in the formal and informal economy. The second dashboard offers indicators regarding safe space at the household level, time spent on unpaid domestic and care work, child marriage and intimate partner violence. It also covers indicators about women's representation in responding to the crisis through for example access to technology, education and political participation.

- Description
- The third report 'State of the world's fathers' focuses on fathers to achieve gender equality in unpaid care work around the world. With a call for action 'The MenCare Commitment': to reach 50 percent of the unpaid care work, men would need to increase their time spent by a minimum of 50 minutes a day. Changes are proposed across five areas: in laws and policies, in social and gender norms, in economic and political security for marginalized families, training for couples and co-parents, and encouraging and supporting individual men themselves.
