- Description
- This report analyses how stigmatisation of wartime sexual violence survivors affects their prosecutions. Its aim is to reduce the shame and blame victims undergo during criminal trials, so that they come forward easier and participate in proceedings. More than 20,000 women were raped during the Bosnian war. The report identifies examples of four rape myths about female victims during such proceedings: promiscuity, consent, credibility and shame. It finally provides recommendations for experts such as judges and prosecutors.
