- Description
- In this paper, the authors examine the pension systems, including both public and private elements, of three contrasting welfare states in the European Community, in order to assess how these deal with women's financial support in later life. A key dimension is whether women are seen mainly as dependent on their husband or as individuals able to earn their own pension. They examine, for the UK, West Germany and Denmark, how each pension system in combination with the predominant pattern of women's employment, affects women's pension acquisition.
