Shortlisted
This book tells the untold story of shortlisted and nominated women for the United States Supreme Court. From the 1930s women appeared on presidential lists, such as Florence Allen and Amalya Kearse - the first African American woman viewed as a potential Supreme Court nominee - until 1981, when Sandra Day O'Connor became the first female justice on the Supreme Court. The book exposes the listing and bypassing of qualified female candidates, and of women of color, and offers a roadmap to combat bias and discrimination in the legal profession.
