Being boys
Explores the personal and public lives of young working-class boys and men, drawing on autobiographies and personal accounts, among others the teenage diaries of the author's father, which are interwoven with a broader analysis of contemporary leisure developments in the 1920s and 1930s. Topics included are: street cultures, dancing, sexuality, mobility and the body.
