In this special issue an examination of the topic of gendered constructions of space(s). It looks closely into the influences of space on our understanding of gender and the participation of space in cultural constructions of race, class and sexuality. This special issue also places the power relationships in taboo places by the gendered expression of religious architecture.

Widowhood: invisible women, secluded or excluded [themanummer]
Widowhood: invisible women, secluded or excluded [themanummer]
Overview of widows in different regions and countries. This issue focuses on widowhood in developing countries where data on the subject of widowhood are scarce. Widows experience a loss of social status and reduced economic circumstances. Widows of all ages are vulnerable to violence. Legal and customary barriers to ownership or access to land, capital, credit, employment, housing and other means of livelihood also reduce the widows' ability of becoming economically secure.
