De teksten in dit boek geven historische beschrijvingen van allerlei projecten op het gebied van geweldsbestrijding en lichamelijke en geestelijke gezondheidszorg. Tegelijkertijd is het een bericht 'uit het hart' van de beweging. Het laat zien hoe betrokkenen zich bepaalde gebeurtenissen herinneren: wat voor hen de belangrijke partijen waren: met wie ze zich verbonden voelden: hoe ze hun krachten bundelden: welke strategieën ze inzetten om hun doelen te bereiken: en wat hun doelen waren. Kortom, hoe hun empowerment functioneerde. Te lezen is hoe vrouwen zich staande hielden en soms het hoofd moesten buigen: en hoe de beweging het beleid en de politiek wist te beïnvloeden maar er ook afhankelijk van werd. In totaal omvat het boek achttien casestudies van projecten en specifieke organisaties, overzichten van hulpvormen, historische analyses van beleid en andere ontwikkelingen. Dit boek over de geschiedenis van de vrouwenhulpverlening aan het einde van de twintigste eeuw brengt de inzet van velen in de vrouwenhulpverlening beweging in beeld.- Creator
