Liberty
This book presents portraits of six women who played a role in the French revolution. They came from different backgrounds, and each illuminates different aspects of the period. They can be characterized as: salonnière, clubiste, mondaine, républicaine, émigrée, femme politique, mariée, activiste, prisonnière, révolutionnaire, victime, maîtresse, or icône. The women portrait are: Germaine de Staël, Pauline Léon, Théroigne de Méricourt, Thérésia de Fontenay, Manon Roland, and Juliette Récamier.
