The self-image of the prostitute
Analyses of prostitution have generally employed a socioeconomic or a psychological frame of reference. Central to the problem of the prostitute's self-identity are how they are recruited and how do prostitutes rationalize their violation of a dominant social norm. Fifteen prostitutes were interviewed for periods averaging two hours each.
