Guide about the traces of slavery and the signs of black and indigenous presence during Dutch rule in New Amsterdam and New Netherland (1609-1664) and the lasting cultural impact on present-day New York City and State up to the 20th century. The book contains the history of more than 90 locations and the material traces in the landscape, divided into five themes: Native American heritage ; Black presence, African heritage ; Enslavement, trade and profit ; Museums, archives, and churches ; Resistance and abolitionism.
