Gendering the recession
The authors provides feminist analyses of a recession-era media culture characterized by the reemergence and refashioning of familiar gender tropes, including crisis masculinity, coping women, and postfeminist self-renewal. Interpreting media forms as diverse as reality television, financial journalism, novels, lifestyle blogs, popular cinema, and advertising, the contributors reveal gendered narratives that recur across media forms too often considered in isolation from one another. They also show how, with a few notable exceptions, recession-era popular culture promotes affective normalcy and transformative individual enterprise under duress while avoiding meaningful critique of the privileged white male or the destructive aspects of Western capitalism. By acknowledging the contradictions between political rhetoric and popular culture, and between diverse screen fantasies and lived realities.- Creator

Gender, kinship, power: a comparative and interdisciplinary history

Europeanization, care and gender
The recent developments about care in Europe are addressed. The complexities of care affect many nations. The growth of migration of care workers as well as the linkages between formal, private and informal forms of care in different parts of Europe are examined. The articles in this book are put together to show how contradictory and highly contested the tendencies toward the single notion of the Europeanization of care are.- Creator

Gender inequalities, households and the production of well-being in Modern Europe
This volume is based on a set of papers which were originally presented at the Action A34 symposium in Barcelona. This volume consists of a selection of historical and contemporary studies. The need to see households and families as sites of both inequality and conflict is an underlying theme in this volume. Along with this, the extent to which changes in family forms and living arrangements are generating new challenges is demonstrated.- Creator

Transforming gendered well-being in Europe
Three different aspects of the relationships between gender, social movements and well-being are illuminated. Also, the extent to which the opportunity to participate effectively in the political choices which govern one's live, the ways in which such participation can help to develop an expanded conception of well-being and the ways in which contemporary social movements operate across national boundaries are highlighted.- Creator
