Domestic violence and police response in a pro-arrest jurisdiction
Factors were studied in terms of their impact on selfreported likelihood to arrest when responding to domestic violence call. Results indicate that belief in the utility of police involvement, knowledge of the department's policy, and attitudes towards women are all significant in accounting for the variation in the likelihood of police to arrest.- Creator

Double your trouble

Stalking behaviors within domestic violence

Sex, sense, and sensibility
The author argues for exposing judges to outsider literature - novels, short stories, and poetry - in order to improve their understanding of domestic violence. This exposure will help judges reduce their reliance on stereotypes, deepen the questions they ask themselves and others, and respond in a more just and effective manner to victims of abuse.- Creator

Evaluating a domestic violence program in a community policing environment
The law enforcement response to domestic violence has changed dramatically in the last two decades. The most recent changes came about in the wake of community policing and its core elements: partnership and problem solving. This article traces the impact of these community policing values on the formations and operation of a domestic violence reduction programm in Portland, Oregon. The differences between the police response to domestic violence in the context of traditional policing versus community policing are highlighted. Particular attention is given to the role of research in police policy formation when community policing principles are implemented.- Creator
