Description | Analysis of the gendered understandings of creativity, reason and imagination. The author examines the visual arts, literature, philosophy, and medicine in her discussion of the intersections of enthusiasm, creativity, and deviance. Women’s position as artists and prevalent notions of female sexuality are discussed. The point is made that the perceived connections among sexuality, creativity, and disease also opened artistic opportunities for women. |
