Description | This report presents a historical perspective of the position of women in the 100 years since the founding of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 1919. It reviews the instruments of the ILO system of international labour standards that address the challenge of achieving gender equality. It also presents an overview of different current labour market indicators, focusing on gender pay gaps, and looks at the future of work and the challenges the region faces to eliminate gender inequalities. Finally, it provides recommendations that may guide governments, employers and workers in their actions for more effective, equitable spaces for employees in the future. |
