DescriptionThis report considers the areas addressed by trade unions concerning women's employment barriers. The first part shows the union's current actions and what can be done to promote women’s empowerment, describes the existing policy frameworks in G7 and EU countries and underlines the importance of collective bargaining, women’s unionization and women’s leadership. The second part describes 27 trade union practices on key gender equality issues: 1) promotion of women to trade union leadership positions: 2) non-discrimination in employment and equal pay for work of equal value: 3) ending violence and harassment against women in the world of work: 4) work–life balance and 5) decent jobs in the care economy. The report concludes with a set of recommendations for trade unions and other stakeholders.. .The report draws on research conducted by the international and European trade union confederations, ILO and the European Union as well as by national trade unions in G7 countries and EU member states.
