Description | This book analyses British feminist photography during the 1970s. It follows feminist photography from its start outside the museum and academic spaces to its incorporation into the fine arts museum at the end of the 1970s. The author focuses on London and Leeds. Characteristic of this period were the massive unemployment and workers' strikes as well as the various forms of social and political activism such as civil right and anti-war protests. Feminists increasingly turned to photography as part of their activism. |
