| Description | Most sports are segregated by gender and create men’s sports and women’s sports. This formal division of an activity based on gender is unique in western societies. Yet, paid and volunteer work in sport are not formally segregated by gender. Although qualified men and women may engage in this work, gender segregation occurs. Although men and women participate in similar numbers in sport, there is still a gender gap in positions of leadership. .The goal of this dissertation is therefore to explore this gender gap. The research shows how organizational processes contribute to the construction of gender in sport related organizations and shape practices of inclusion and exclusion in volunteer and paid sport work in sport. |
