DescriptionAWID presents an analysis of women’s movements and 10 Case Studies from different regions of the world that mobilized women to make a difference. This paper aims to highlight how one particular Romani women’s organization, the International Roma Women’s Network (IRWN), is promoting women’s rights, and to examine the connection between mainstream feminist movements and the Romani movement. IRWN is important because it is the first and only registered international umbrella organization representing Romani women of all Romani groups .from most countries of Europe. In addition, the Joint Roma Women’s Initiative (JRWI), a programme of the Open Society Institute, is also referred to several times and is introduced briefly at the end of the paper.
