This publication consists of essays about feminism in South Asian countries. It examines how religion shapes the agency of both Hindu and Muslim women and describes the challenges for feminist labor organizations in India and Sri Lanka. The authors offer feminist critiques of militarization and state represession in Sri Lanka and India and desribe the histories and challenges of sex workers in India and Bangladesh. Last, the limits and potential of taking South Asia as the grounds for new theoretical work in feminism is outlined.
