- Description
- This catalogue presents the works of women painters and sculptors from 1780 to 1919, that entered the Nationalgalerie in Berlin, German Empire / Germany, despite social opposition confronted by professional women artists. The collection has been re-evaluated against the background of the present-day discourse about equal status. This publication also contains biographies of women artists and a list of lost works produced by women artists before 1919.
- This publication accompanies the exhibition 'Fighting for visibility: women artists in the Nationalgalerie before 1919', 11 October 2019-8 March 2020, curated by Yvette Deseyve.
