- Description
- This volume analyzes representations of the mother in francophone post-2000 literature and films in North America. Contributors reexamine the 'horrible mother' paradigm to broaden the understanding of mothering beyond traditional ideology (e.g. the working multitasking mother, the absent mother and the liberated mother). The chapters focus on the predominant theme of the mother in order to reassess questions of for example identity, guilt, heteronormativity and childlesness. They refer to works of writers or filmmakers such as Nelly Arcan, Grégoire Chabot, Marguerite Andersen and Xavier Dolan.

- Description
- This book is a series of narratives, critical essays, poems, and reflections from a diverse community of North American black-identified vegans. Collectively, these activists are de-colonizing their bodies and minds via whole-foods veganism. By kicking junk-food habits, the more than thirty contributors all show the way toward longer, stronger, and healthier lives. Suffering from type-2 diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, and overweight need not be the way women of color are doomed to be victimized and live out their mature lives. There are healthy alternatives.

- Description
- This interdisciplinary volume addresses the dearth in descriptions and analyses of gender roles and relationships in Native societies in North America's boreal reaches. The contributors challenge the widespread notion that Native women's and men's roles are frozen in time, a concept precluding the possibility of differently constructed gender categories and changing power relations and roles through time. By examining the prehistorical, historical, and modern records, they demonstrate that these roles are not fixed and have indeed gradually transformed.
