- This resource guide responds to the gaps that exist in addressing the safety of women journalists online, that directly affects the quality of democracies and the right of society to access a plurality of information. The guide aims to assist states and provide guidance to all relevant stakeholders, including non-state actors, across the OSCE region in addressing online harassment and abuse against women journalists. After an introduction of the problem and a mapping of international human rights standards that support the safety of women journalists online, 40 actions are proposed to be implemented with one common gender-responsive approach. This publication is part of the project “Safety of Female Journalists Online”, or #SOFJO.

- Through the lens of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, this publication reviews the most-common measures that the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) participating states in Europe, North America and Asia have taken during the health crisis and identifies how restrictions to human rights have impacted women and girls in particular. Emergency measures have been employed in exigent circumstances, and decision-making has often not included consideration of the unintended consequences of the measures themselves. The rights of women and girls may be violated by emergency measures that have a discriminatory impact.

- Description
- This publication serves as a knowledge base to understand and enforce action concerning gender-based violence (GBV) and environmental issues. It argues that gender-based abuse is observed across environmental contexts and affects the security of communities and the realisation of sustainable development goals (SDGs). The analysis shows the interlinking nature of GBV across three main contexts: access to and control of natural resources (land, forests, agriculture, water and fisheries): environmental pressure and threats (environmental crimes, extractive industries and agribusiness and climate change and weather-related disasters): and environmental action to defend and conserve ecosystems and resources (women environmental human rights defenders, environmental projects and environmental workplaces). The publication focuses on awareness and engagement of actors working in environmental and sustainable development, gender equality and GBV policymaking to apply rights-based, gender-responsive approaches to environmental policy, programmes and projects. The publication contains a list of case studies.

- Women in the Workplace is a comprehensive study of the state of women in corporate America. In 2015, McKinsey & Company and LeanIn.Org launched the study to help companies advance diversity in the workplace. Between 2015 and 2019, close to 600 companies took part in the study, and more than a quarter of a million people were surveyed on their workplace experiences. In 2020, women in corporate America are facing a new challenge: the Covid-19 pandemic. This report focuses on how the pandemic has affected women at work, including the unique impact on women of different races and ethnicities, working mothers, women in senior leadership, and women with disabilities. It also looks at the emotional impact of incidents of racial violence in this country on employees. Finally, it tracks the changes we’ve seen in women’s representation over the past six years and assesses how Covid-19 could disrupt those trends going forward.

- In this brief, WEDO (Women’s Environment and Development Organization) argues that gender equality is a critical element of effective, sustainable climate action. After a short background about integration of gender perspectives into all climate finance, it proposes alternatives for constructing a climate finance portfolio that is feminist. It also highlights key challenges and opportunities for understanding gender-responsive programmes. One of WEDO's recommendations is to use lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic to prioritize comprehensive, long-term feminist investing and monitoring.. .The brief consists of three parts: making the case for a feminist portfolio: opportunities for rethinking climate finance investments: transform discourse on effective climate finance.

This report argues that innovative solutions beyond health, such as economic re-entry strategies and product development, also need to consider sex and gender. The report studies sex differences in immune responses as well as sex-specific side effects of vaccines and treatments. Next, it considers gender-specific risk factors, the design of gender-sensitive prevention campaigns and the gender-specific socioeconomic burden of social/physical distancing measures and quarantines. Finally, it provides suggestions for future COVID-19 national and EU funded research.

Most of them stem from gender inequalities and unfair treatment of women and girls, who are the majority of food producers and food providers for their households. However, their contributions are frequently unseen. Despite their bariers, women and girls already take initiative to meet COVID-19-related challenges. This CARE analysis provides global policy recommendations, argueing that involving women and girls is good for food systems as well as for pandemic responses generally.

This report is structured to feature three main lessons. The project ‘Strengthening Innovative Solutions to Protect Female Migrant and Refugee Rights’ is the starting point and a concrete example of the potential for impact when migrant and refugee women’s .groups come together. The overall percentage of women in parliaments increased from 11.3 per cent in 1995 to nearly 24.9 in 2020. However, nine countries still have less than 5 per cent women in their parliaments. The largest progress in women’s representation has been achieved by Rwanda, the United Arab Emirates, Andorra and Bolivia. Although Europe is no longer in the lead as a region, the Nordic countries are the only sub-region to have over 40 per cent women parliamentarians. Sixteen of the top 20 countries with the largest share of women in parliament in 2020, apply some type of gender quota. Other incentives include policies to promote women’s recruitment and a more gender-sensitive political culture.

- Analysis of the demographic situation of the European Union (EU-28). Statistics show that the EU population is stagnating and it is expected to decline in the longer term. While the EU population is ageing as life expectancy increases, fertility rates are lower than in the past. This has serious implications for the economy, healthcare and pensions. Free movement within the EU and migration from third countries also play an important role in shaping demography in individual member states and regions. .The 'in-focus' section of the 2020 edition looks at the relationship between food and nutrition and demographic changes. It shows that, however food quality and healthier eating habits lead to higher life expectancy, the EU has to deal with and prevent the causes of diet-related chronic conditions, such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

- Description
- This report of GREVIO evaluates laws and policies on violence against women in the Netherlands. It describes different measures that have been taken to build a set of policies and services to help victims of domestic violence. The report argues that, under the Istanbul Convention, all forms of violence against women require a holistic approach in the form of prevention, protection of victims and prosecution. It notes that sexual assault, rape, forced marriage and other forms of violence against women are less prominently addressed through law and policy - and even less so on the basis of a gendered approach. The Istanbul Convention requires a gendered understanding of rape to better capture the many ways in which women experience sexual violence - most of which do not involve force, threat or coercion.

- Discussion note on the effects of gender-responsive fiscal policies on women’s labor participation in the last three decades. It also explores how these policies affect gender wage gaps, economic growth, income inequality and poverty in both advanced economies and low-income countries. For advanced economies, it focuses on for example reducing the cost of childcare and providing publicly financed maternity leave. For low-income countries, the note considers the impact of investing in education, providing cash transfers to poor women in the labor force and investing in infrastructure. Results show that gender-responsive fiscal policies can support female labor force participation and have important macroeconomic effects.
